We had a great undertaking sooner this year. We have always had the intention to assist companies on their journey in green transition. For big companies, this is much easier: they have intention, interest, competence, money. Yet, for the small ones, these are not obvious at all.
Big companies usually want to go from good to great, while small ones yearn to catch up to a moderate level at least. There is a clear market gap for the smallest companies, and there is no real business interest at the private consulting companies to lift those small ones lagging behind – to give them enough to understand the basics, to empower them with fundamental knowledge to act as an entry-level client for consultants.
However, SMEs need to enter the sustainability consulting market as a result of pressing regulations and market demand – and the sustainability consulting market needs SMEs, as new clients.
There is a clear market gap here, that needs to be bridged to provide leveraged value at a national level, so that more and more small companies may walk the green path.
We teamed up with the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (access to vast number of SMEs in their renowned mentoring program), KPMG (access to international good practices in awareness raising), National Sustainable Development Council (highest government forum for sustainability, providing the policy viewpoints), and DevEco Consulting has provided pro bono quality control and professional support to bridge this gap together, by writing a handbook to SMEs on environmental sustainability.
‘A book?’ – you might ask now. Yes, a book. An e-book, to be precise. We work innovatively, but also believe in the power of the traditional. The result is an up-to-date and genuine e-book for SMEs on sustainability, freely accessible to the broad public. It has the potential to raise awareness, provide fundamental information and answer basic questions in environmental sustainability. Enough, for any company, to start the green journey.
Should you, or your partners be interested in this e-book, feel free to share with them – it is at your disposal on both iOS and Android platforms, authored by a team led by András Kaszap, Director at KPMG, with a foreword from Dr. Katalin Szili, former President of the Parliament and Balazs Mezosi, PhD, CMC, managing director of DevEco Consulting.
